Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following the attempted burglary of a shop in Market Place, Wokingham.

The incident took place at approximately 10pm on Sunday (10/9). A man approached the store from Broad Street and tried to force entry though the front doors using a tool. He then walked away before returning a few seconds later to try and force entry again.

The offender is described as a white man carrying a bag for life style bag. He was wearing dark coloured clothing including a cap, top and tracksuit bottoms that had light coloured stripes running down the sides.

Although the alarm was activated, the offender did not gain entry to the store. He walked off along Market Place heading back towards Broad Street.

Investigating officer, Police Constable Paul Bentley from Loddon Valley police station, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to call our 24-hour enquiry centre on 101, quoting reference 43170269217.”

If you don’t want to speak directly to police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
